Formed in September 2001, after frontman and lead singer Gerard Way witnessed the Twin Towers attack, the original members were Mikey Way (Gerard's little brother) on bass (that mf did not know how to play), Ray Toro on lead guitar, and Matt Pelissier on drums. Rythm guitarrist and local headache, Frank Iero, joined them in 2002.
The band signed with Eyeball Records and released their debut album,
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love,in 2002.
